Understanding Bio Sleek
These are the most common questions stylists ask before choosing Bio Sleek for their clients.
What Is Bio Sleek?
Bio Sleek is a professional organic straightening treatment designed to smooth frizz, straighten resistant hair, and leave the hair soft, shiny, and manageable.
It works with an amino-acid based system that helps transform curly, wavy, frizzy, or hard-to-control hair into a smoother, straighter finish. Bio Sleek is ideal for clients who want long-lasting straight results with less daily styling, less frizz, and easier blow-drying.
Bio Sleek vs Keratin
Bio Sleek is not the same as traditional keratin treatments. Bio Sleek is an organic amino-acid based straightening treatment. Many keratin treatments are sealed into the hair differently and often require more aftercare restrictions.
With Bio Sleek, the product is rinsed before blow-drying and flat ironing, creating a cleaner and more comfortable service.
After Bio Sleek, clients can swim, wash their hair, use their regular shampoo routine, and color or highlight the hair when needed. With many keratin treatments, clients are often advised to avoid pool/ocean water, use sulfate-free shampoo, and do color or highlights before the treatment because it may reduce the keratin result. Bio Sleek offers more flexibility for the stylist and the client while giving smooth, straight, long-lasting results.
Bio Sleek vs Japanese Straightening
Bio Sleek is not the same as traditional Japanese straightening.
Japanese straightening is a strong chemical service that must be timed carefully. If left on too long, the hair can become weak, stretchy, gummy, or break. Highlights are not recommended after Japanese straightening because the hair may break.
Bio Sleek gives stylists a safer, more controlled, and more flexible process with a pleasant smell and a cleaner salon experience. It is a modern alternative for smooth, straight, long-lasting results, and highlights can be done after the treatment when needed.
How Long Does It Last?
Bio Sleek results can last up to 6 months, depending on the client’s hair type, maintenance routine, and aftercare.
Most clients only need a root retouch as new growth comes in, instead of redoing the full length every time.
Correct technique, aftercare, and home maintenance help keep the results smooth and polished for longer.
One-Time Correction After the First Wash
One of the biggest advantages of Bio Sleek is the option to reinforce the result after the first wash
If the hair is not fully straight after the first wash, bring the client back for a one-time correction. There is no need to wash the hair again or reapply the treatment. Simply dry the hair completely and re-flat iron only the areas that need extra straightening.
No need to reapply the treatment or redo the full service.
Best for: missed spots, resistant areas, or puffy sections after the first wash.
Color + Bio Sleek Guide
Use this guide when working with color, toner, blonde hair, or fragile level 8+ hair.
Should I color before or after Bio Sleek?
Best control: Bio Sleek first → then color or toner.
Bio Sleek is amino-acid based and uses heat, so it can slightly lift or fade color, especially on previously colored or light hair.
If you color before Bio Sleek, the final shade may become lighter or warmer.
Can I color the same day after Bio Sleek?
Yes, but follow the correct steps and always check the hair condition first.
After Bio Sleek, wash with Treatment Care Shampoo, apply Treatment Care Conditioner, rinse, and dry the hair completely before color.
For roots: use permanent color with 20-volume developer.
For mid-lengths and ends: use toner, demi, or semi with 1.9% or lower developer.
How should I tone after Bio Sleek?
Dark or deeper toners can usually be applied right after the treatment on clean hair.
Always shampoo and condition before applying toner.
For light, pastel, fashion tones, level 8+ blondes, or heavily highlighted hair, it is better to wait 2 weeks when possible so the pigment lasts longer.
What about blonde, bleached, or fragile hair?
For highly bleached, fragile, porous, or level 8+ hair, Bio Sleek alone may not be the best choice.
Use Bio Sleek + Nano Silky for a softer straightening approach on blonde or fragile hair.
Choose Nano Silky when the client wants smoothing and frizz control without stronger straightening.

See Processing Guide below for full timing.
Rinse / Shampoo Out
Rinse the hair thoroughly and remove the product completely.
- Shampoo when needed for lighter or less curly hair.
- For thick, curly, or resistant hair, rinse thoroughly without shampoo before flat ironing.

Flat Iron
Flat iron in very small sections with a professional titanium flat iron.

Hair Not Fully Straight After First Wash?
Most of the time, this is about technique, not product.
Ask Yourself
- Did you apply in small enough sections and comb through?
- Did you flat iron in very small sections, slowly, with enough passes?
- Is the hair low-porosity, very resistant, or very curly?
If the client has washed many times and the hair looks almost like before, evaluate whether a new full Bio Sleek service is needed.
How Do I Straighten Afro or Tight Curls with Bio Sleek?
Yes — one session can be enough, but afro and tight curls need extra time, smaller sections, and stronger technique.
Key Rules
- Apply in very small sections and comb through each section.
- Use the resistant hair processing time: 30 min with cap under heat + 30 min without cap under heat + 15 min cool down.
- Use a professional titanium flat iron with the correct temperature for the hair condition.
- Work slowly in tiny sections until the hair looks smooth, shiny, and sealed.
Bio Sleek: Common Mistakes to Avoid
Most Bio Sleek issues happen from technique, not the product. Use this guide to help stylists avoid the most common application and flat iron mistakes.
Uneven Product Saturation
If the product is not applied evenly, some areas may stay puffy, wavy, or less straight after the first wash.
Sections Are Too Big
Large sections make it harder for the product to saturate the hair and harder for the flat iron to seal the treatment evenly.
Hair Is Not 100% Dry Before Ironing
Moisture left inside the hair can weaken the final result and prevent the treatment from sealing correctly.
Using the Wrong Flat Iron
A weak flat iron may not keep stable heat, and the treatment may not seal properly into the hair.
Too Many Passes on Fragile Hair
Over-ironing fragile, bleached, or damaged hair can create dryness, stress, or damage.
Choosing the Wrong Client
Bio Sleek is not ideal for extremely damaged, stretchy, breaking hair, or clients who want to keep their natural curls.
Roots + Combination Services
Professional ways to maintain Bio Sleek results, protect the lengths, and customize the service based on the client’s hair condition.

Full Length
Roots vs Full Length
