What exactly is Nano Mousse Treatment, and what results can I expect?
Nano Mousse is a professional, formaldehyde-based smoothing treatment that removes frizz, softens the hair, and adds intense shine. It slightly relaxes the curl pattern while keeping movement, with results lasting around 12–16 weeks when maintained correctly.
Can we apply Nano Mousse the same day after color, bleach, highlights, ombré, or balayage?
Yes. Complete the color or lightening first, rinse well, then shampoo one time with Treatment Care Shampoo and one time with Clarifying Shampoo, with no conditioner. This prepares the hair so Nano Mousse can be applied safely while helping keep the color shiny and even.
Can we apply Nano Mousse Treatment on virgin hair?
Yes, Nano Mousse can be applied on virgin hair (hair with no previous color or chemical services), but the cuticle is usually more closed, so it needs to be gently opened before applying the treatment.
Option 1 - With 20 vol:
Apply 20 volume developer on the hair for about 15 minutes. Rinse well and shampoo once with clarifying shampoo.
Option 2 - Without 20 vol:
Shampoo the hair once with clarifying shampoo. Apply clarifying shampoo a second time, comb through, and leave on for 15 - 20 minutes, then rinse thoroughly.
After washing with clarifying shampoo, how dry should the hair be before applying Nano Mousse?
The level of dryness before applying Nano Mousse depends on the hair type:
- Thin/dark/thick natural hair → apply on towel-dry hair.
- Highlighted hair → hair 20% dry.
- Bleached/dry hair → hair 80% dry before Nano Mousse.
Can I do hair extensions after Nano Mousse on the same day?
Yes, hair extensions can be installed on the same day after a Nano Mousse treatment.
When applying Nano Mousse, keep the product about 1 inch / 2 cm away from the roots and make sure it stays below the area where the extensions will sit. This keeps the roots clean so tapes, keratin tips, or rings can grip properly and do not slip.
After the treatment is fully finished and the hair is 100% dry and smooth, extensions can be applied as usual onto the product-free root area.
Can I apply Nano Mousse Treatment on hair with hair extensions?
Yes, Nano Mousse can be applied on hair that already has human-hair extensions (tapes, keratin tips, sew-ins, etc.).
Apply the product mainly on the mid-lengths and ends of the hair and keep the product away from the actual bonds or glue areas.
When using the flat iron, work in small sections and stop just before the bonds – do not run the iron directly over tapes, keratin tips or rings.
Used this way, Nano Mousse will make both the natural hair and the extensions softer, smoother and shinier, without loosening the extensions.
Can we use Nano Mousse on curly hair if the client wants to keep curl?
Yes, but curls will open and relax a little. Frizz is reduced, and styling becomes easier, but the curl pattern will not stay exactly the same. If a client loves their natural tight curl and does not want any change in structure, choose another service like I.SMOOTH.
Can we use Nano Mousse on relaxed hair, perms, or previous keratin/smoothing?
Yes. Nano Mousse works over most previous chemical services, as long as the hair is in good condition. Always do a consultation and strand test, and use moderate heat and passes to avoid over-processing already treated hair.
Who is not a good candidate for Nano Mousse?
Nano Mousse slightly changes the hair structure to make it smoother. It is not recommended for clients who do not want any change in their natural texture (for example, someone who loves their tight curls exactly as they are) or for clients with known sensitivities/allergies to formaldehyde-based products.
How long do Nano Mousse results last?
With proper application in the salon and the right home routine, Nano Mousse results can last approximately 12–16 weeks.
Durability will vary depending on the hair type, how frequently the client shampoos, and what products and heat tools are used.
To keep the hair smooth, shiny, and frizz-free for as long as possible, recommend a full Nano Lamination aftercare routine (shampoo, conditione,r and styling products designed for smoothing treatments).
